Real experiences from real travelers
Landing at Kalapatthar felt like standing on top of the world. The pilot was incredibly skilled and the organization was flawless. Worth every cent.
We booked the breakfast tour at Everest View Hotel. The views were clear and the pickup from our Kathmandu hotel was right on time.
As a photographer, the guaranteed window seat was essential. I got amazing shots of the Khumbu Icefall that I couldn't have gotten any other way.
We had a 1-day delay due to fog, but the platform and the operator were great at rescheduling. When we finally flew, it was magical.
The lake tour is a great shorter option. The contrast between the green hills and the high-altitude blue lake is stunning.
I was nervous about the altitude, but the pilot checked our oxygen levels and explained everything clearly. Very professional.
My parents couldn't trek but always wanted to see Everest. This tour made their dream come true in total comfort.
Eating eggs and toast while looking at the Everest summit is something I will never forget. Highly recommend the 5-hour tour.
Everything you need to know for your journey
The best months are March to May and September to December when the skies are clear and the mountain views are most stable.
Most tours land at Kalapatthar (5,545m) rather than Base Camp itself because Kalapatthar offers a much better view of the Everest summit, which is hidden when you are standing at Base Camp.
A shared tour allows you to book a single seat and split the cost with other travelers, while a private tour gives you the entire aircraft for your group and more flexibility in the itinerary.
Because the time spent at high altitude is brief (usually 15-30 minutes per landing), the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is low. However, oxygen is always available if needed.
If weather prevents the flight, you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund. We recommend booking your flight for the beginning of your trip to allow for rescheduling.
Standard helicopters carry up to 5 passengers. For landings above 4,000m, weight limits apply, and groups of 4 or 5 may be split into two shuttles from Pheriche to the landing site.
Wear layers including a warm down jacket, sunglasses to prevent snow blindness, and sturdy shoes. It is much colder at the landing sites than in Kathmandu.
Yes, many operators offer a 1-hour direct helicopter transfer from Kathmandu to Lukla, which saves time and avoids the long drive to Ramechhap airport.
Yes, all high-altitude helicopter tours in Nepal are equipped with oxygen cylinders and masks for passenger use in case of any discomfort.
